Written in lucid manner and with a practical slant, this book offers both accessible information to newcomers as well as valuable reference to the experienced in the field. The book is divided into two thematic parts. Part-I begins with a thorough and comprehensive introduction of PPP, followed by an elaborate description of its component topics, including equitable risk allocation, deterministic financial approach, contractual relationship between inherently opposed entities, and the supportive legal and regulatory framework. Part-II presents an incisive and in-depth analysis of the past experience of PPP and future prognosis of the various key infrastructure sectors, comprising roads, water and sanitation, urban rail transit, airports, ports, and power and telecommunication. A separate section is specifically devoted in each chapter to the Indian scenario and includes extensive coverage of the present conditions in the sector, PPP progress in the respective field, and steps initiated by the authorities for its accelerated propagation. All chapters are supplemented with real world examples of successful PPP. In addition to sixteen such project briefs, there are four case studies, including one on Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, which offer rich reference insights into live PPP infrastructure development. The book will be useful to students and academic fraternity in the areas of business management and development economics, to economic planners, infrastructure professionals, investment managers, senior executives of public and private sectors, and policy makers in the central and state governments and the bureaucracy.
